MigrationGunnison Bend Reservoir is an annual stop for migrating snow geese here in Utah. Fred and I shivered on the bank one afternoon in late February watching thousands of birds gather on the water, then take off in great flocks. They circle in unison overhead, sometimes landing again, sometimes flying away, their silhouette against the blue sky resembled a raveling string of beads. The numbers are breathtaking, their flight pattern choreographed, precise in their spacing and wing beats. They stay until it’s time to go--social media reports that they are headed north from Montana now. So, we are left behind by the geese, knowing that Spring is coming soon.
