CHICKADEE After the holidays, there is much to catch up on. The decorated tree is stripped and callously abandoned at the curb after lighting up our dark solstice days with light, color and memories. Time to move on, although I could linger a while longer.
So, I've picked up my brushes again, and I'm posting a little effort that inspired me. Chickadees are delightful visitors to our feeders, sharp white against black markings, easy to spot and identify. I painted the one on the left two weeks ago. It seemed incomplete, although I was satisfied with the bird's appearance. Today I added the dry oak leaves, where they play hide and seek. It makes the chickadee seem more in its element to me although you may prefer the left image. I think I'm done, I can't go back anyway, so welcome to your home, chickadee.
